Welcome to Thursday Virtuous Women,
The steps of the righteous are ordered of the Lord. For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those who’s hearts are blameless and completely toward Him. Procrastination is a thief of Blessing.
Ladies, here is a glimpse into my second book Today’s Virtuous Woman Empowered to Prosper, now available on Amazon I will post the Link below.
GOOD INTENTIONS
I heard Oral Roberts say this one time; “The road to hell is covered with people who have good intentions. God does not bless you for what you intend to do He blesses you for what you do and get done.” A person does not make it to heaven because they intended to ask the Lord into their life, they get to heaven because they asked the Lord into their life. They followed through and did their part in the deal and reaped the benefits that came from doing it. Intending to do anything, although it is a good start and sounds good, if you don’t follow through and actually do what you intend to do, it will profit and accomplish nothing. Intentions do not have a desired end. Doing does!
I learned this the hard way back in 1982, I was twenty five and had just given birth to our fourth child. In the middle of a Sunday service I noticed another young couple sitting in the front row. The young girl especially stood out to me, she was a beautiful petite blonde, just stunning. We had meet them a few times before and knew a little about them, they were recently married and on fire for God. As I watched them the Lord spoke to me and said: “I want you to be a friend to Lorie Ann Davies.” I was kind of surprised that He would ask me to do this since my hands and time were pretty full with four children ages eight to newborn and on top of that I lived 25 miles away from her. I knew He wanted me to, so I said “OK Lord I will.” I had every intention to carry through with His request as soon as I thought I could work it in, weeks turned to months and I had still not gotten that request done.
From the time the Lord had asked me to be a friend to Lorie Ann He would gently bring her to my remembrance all the time. Whenever He did I would pray for her every time, I figured that would do until I could find the time to actually go out and befriend her. I was so busy with my own life I was dull to the urgency of the Lords request. Little did I know just how much she needed a friend NOW, and I didn’t find out until years later just how desperate her situation really was. A long story short they split up and she filed for divorce, I was shocked and guilt tried to overtake me, I felt so bad and almost responsible that it had happened to them.
I am not going to go into the whole story about what happened but I will give you a very condensed version. We became good friends with Jim and hooked up with him 100% to see Lorie come back. It took over seven long years and lots of miraculous things happened through out that time. It’s a fabulous marriage restoration testimony and I know they are writing a book about it,
Lorie Ann and I are best friends and have been since she came back to Jim, or at least that’s how long it has been for Lorie Ann I have been Lorie Ann’s best friend for over seven years longer. I love Lorie Ann and she is a huge blessing to me, and to think the thief almost stole that relationship away from me because I intended to do something the Lord asked me to do and didn’t. Somebody hand me a tissue please.
Randy and I paid a big price to make that situation right, my intentions were good and honorable, but the bottom line was I didn’t get the job the Lord asked me to do done. As a result we committed to the Lord and Jim that we would see this thing through with him to the desired end, no mater how long or what it took we were all in, ready to obey God and willing to do what ever our part was.
